The Fiji Airways flight FJ410 has landed safely at 4pm this afternoon at the Auckland Airport in New Zealand.

New Zealand’s One News reported that members of the public in Auckland, New Zealand have been calling them with reports of a plane flying over Auckland’s North Shore area in big, elongated loops earlier this afternoon.

They then contacted the Auckland Airport communications and were informed that it is a Fiji Airways plane encountering technical difficulties.

Newswire has contacted Fiji Airways on the issue.

In a statement, Fiji Airways said that flight FJ410 had an issue retracting its landing gear after take-off from Auckland.

FIJI AIRWAYS: “Fiji Airways flight FJ410, operated using our B737 aircraft, had an issue retracting its landing gear after take-off from Auckland. The flight crew then turned the aircraft around return to Auckland. The aircraft was in a holding pattern before it could land. Our engineers are working on the problem and we expect it to be rectified shortly.”

Fiji Airways said the aircraft landed safely at around 4pm and has now taken off from Auckland at 4.51pm.

Auckland Airport Communications said that FJ410 was heading for Nadi.
