People gather on a street in downtown Mexico City during an earthquake on September 8, 2017.
In a statement, the Unit said “A great size earthquake with shallow depth source location occurred in the Mexico region. However, it does not pose any immediate threat to the Fiji region.”
However, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says tsunami waves between 0.3m to 1m are possible for the coast of Fiji, although the estimated time of arrival is 7.15 am on Sunday.
