The Fiji Police Force (FPF) will be deploying a team to monitor security over the weekend ahead of the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants (BOG) tournament at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

In a statement, chief operations officer ACP Tito Elo said they are are anticipating an increase in the number of people moving in and out of the Eastern Division over the weekend.

ELO: “In light of this, a dedicated team of officers will be tasked to monitor security at the games venue, traffic movements as well as within the Nausori town areas.”

He said for those traveling from other divisions are asked to plan their time well to avoid rushing to watch the matches as speeding continues to be the leading cause of road accidents on the roads.

ACP Elo said the safety of the public during celebrations is the prime aim of the force.

ELO: “Again the need to prioritize your safety and that of your loved ones cannot be stressed enough by the Fiji Police Force. We will continue to play our part by raising awareness and we are hoping everyone will take what we are asking on board.”
