In a statement, Mr Patel said the comments made on Facebook misrepresented him as making a statement after the pool matches of the Vodafone Fiji FACT in Labasa, indicating that Ba had successfully protested the result against Rewa and will feature in the semi-final.

Mr Patel said he did not make such announcements and that no protest had been lodged by any team.

PATEL: “I want to make it clear that Rewa has qualified for the semi-final and they will play, not Ba as stated on social media. I just don’t know why some people are always negative about Fiji Football, they don’t have other things to do just sit and write such things in putting us down?”

Mr Patel said Fiji FA has referred the matter to the police cyber crime.

PATEL: “We will leave it to the police to do their work and I must warn that people who share false and defamatory information on social media should take heed as we will no longer tolerate this behavior.”

The Vodafone Fiji FACT semi-final will be played on the 2nd of July at 3pm.

Defending champions Labasa will play Group A winners Nadi at 3pm while Group B winners Suva will face last year’s runner’s up Rewa at 5pm at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
