Replacement striker Benaminio Mateiniqara scored Nadi’s goal via a penalty kick after marksman Samuela Drudru was brought down by Suva goalkeeper Emori Raqata in the 85th minute.

In the last minute, Nickel Chand equalised for Suva, but it was too late for the Capital City side as they need two clear goals to win.

Kamal Swamy, Nadi football coach said the fans were waiting for this victory.

Overall we have started the season very well.

It is a positive note and we have reminded the boys that this is the way we need to go. We have started with new formations. For the national league we will start preparations from Monday.

Nadi took home the $5000 winnings and the CVC playoffs 2-1 on aggregate.
