New Caledonia has beaten Fiji 5-1 in the opening match of the 2016 OFC Futsal Championship at Vodafone Arena in Suva, yesterday.

The Intiaz Ali coached Fiji side was no match for the New Caledonians as they took the game by storm at the earlier stages, scoring two goals in just the first half and later piled in more in the second half.

Forward Altaaf Sahib was the only Fijian to put his side on the scoreboard with his fourteenth-minute goal in the first half.

Fiji will face Vanuatu at 3.00pm in the opener of day two matches today.

Vanuatu will face New Zealand at 5.30pm while Solomon Islands meets Tahiti at 8.00pm.
