Vodafone Fiji 7s coach, Ben Ryan has made a late change in the Fiji squad for the Hong Kong 7s with Viliame Mata being ruled out after picking up a knock in training yesterday.

Pio Tuwai will replace Viliame Mata at the Hong Kong and Singapore 7s. In a tweet by the Head Coach, Ryan said Tuwai has fully recovered from an elbow injury.

Meanwhile, Semi Kunatani will make a return to the Vodafone Fiji 7s team in the Hong Kong and Singapore 7s. Kunatani has been working on a program prepared by Ben Ryan since his return after the Sydney 7s.

Ben Ryan highlighted that Kunatani already understands the team planning that the Fiji 7s side has been building on for the last three years.

The Fiji Rugby Union  thanked Kunatani’s club for releasing him for these two tournaments and also the Paris and London 7s tournaments.

Fiji Rugby Union  CEO, John O’Connor, congratulated the team on their selection and wished them all the best as they finalise preparations to defend their title in Hong Kong. He highlighted that Hong Kong was always special to all Fijian and is confident that the Team is fully aware of this and will do their best.
