In a statement issued by the Office of the President to the Fiji 7s team head coach Ben Ryan, President Konrote said the Fiji National sevens team has again fortified the unity and support of the people of Fiji through their performance in the pool games right up to the finals.

Despite losing to a better Kenya team, I believed that the boys played well and deserve to be praised for their gallant effort.

President Konrote said the final games highlighted areas that may be exploited by our opponents and this in itself is a blessing in disguise as the team continues to prepare for the Rio Olympics.

I again applaud you and the Team Management for your commitment and in particular the dedication of our warriors considering the mammoth task set before you.

On behalf of all Fijians, please convey my congratulations to the boys and the officials for your progress to date and I wish you the very best for the remaining tournaments in the IRB series and your preparation for the Rio Olympics.
