Coach Pio Kabiri is fielding a side featuring a star-studded team lineup with former Fiji reps.

“We’ve been preparing for the whole year, but then there are some players who are still coming in, Alipate Rotini just came in yesterday.  Our first line-up is actually a former Fiji rep line-up, a Fiji 7’s team lineup.”

Players like Emosi Vucago, Nasoni Roko, Sitiveni Waqa, Alipate Ratini, David Batiratu, Emori Waqa and Jone Vota have been named in Tabadamu Red’s team lineup.

Coach Kabiri said they have finished training and are on the next phase now and the players are focussing on community work.

“We have already finished our training, we are on the next phase now and that is to do some work of mercy.”

“Our preparations for the Marist 7’s towards this weekend is to visit the hospital, the blind school in Vatuwaqa and the Sacred Heart in Nadera.”

Mr Kabiri has not counted any team out and expects a tough competition in the tournament, but said they are the ones who are going the extra mile.

“Every team have prepared well, Police are preparing well, Westfield are preparing well and we do respect our preparation and what they are doing, but we are going the extra mile, the extra mile is important and that is visiting the hospitals.”

“Our preparations have finished yesterday and today and tomorrow we are focusing, going on the blackboard, we are spending more time on the blackboard right now.”

“We are physically prepared, we are spritually prepared and mentally prepared and we know what to do when we go there, we go to win.”

Tabadamu Red, who defeated Hideaway Hurricanes in the final last year, are pooled with New Born Waibasaga Rugby Club, Kabuleka and Samurai Dolphin.

The 40th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will be held this Friday and Saturday at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
