Georgia defeated Tonga 23-20 in a test match at ANZ Stadium in Suva this afternoon.

The side displayed an outstanding performance but Tonga, on the other hand,  held their opponents with good defensive skills.

Georgia led the first half 13-10 and kept the momentum until the second half.

Georgia number 10 Lasha Khmaladze scored their first try with Merab Kvirikashvili successfully converting the try.

The other two penalties were from Lasha Khmaladze and Merab Kvirkashvili.

Tonga’s Kali Hala scored for his side with a successful conversion. Another penalty came from Shone Tau.

The second half saw both teams starting with penalty kicks.

Georgia’s Merab Kvirikashvili kicked the penalty to further their lead to a 16-10 score.

Minutes after Tonga’s Tane Takulua kicked another penalty for his side to draw their score closer.

Sione Anga’aelangi scored another try for Tonga beating the opponents with a 20-16 lead.

Georgia was able to break lose against Tonga’s defence allowing their centre David Kacharava scoring their last try.

Georgia won 23-20.
