Team Fiji’s weightlifter Manueli Tulo finished fifth in Group B of the men’s 56kg weight division in the weightlifting competition in Rio.

Tulo managed a fifth place finish with a total lift of 242kg.

He lifted 106kg in the snatch and 136kg in the clean and jerk, this compared to the 233kg he did at the London Olympics where he finished 13th.

Weightlifting Fiji president Atma Maharaj said this is a great outcome for Tulo.

Meanwhile, Team Fiji shooter, Glen Kable finished in the 20th spot out of 33 in the men’s trap qualification event this morning.

He finished with a total of 67 after shooting 23 and two rounds of 22 respectively.

Kable will take part in another round tomorrow before the medal playoffs.

China is currently leading in the medal tally with 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals ahead of Australia, Italy and South Korea.
