Ryan on his official twitter account in reply to PACNEWS said “it would probably help if someone told me about it.”

According to PACNEWS, Team Fiji Chef de Mission Cathy Wong could not hold back her frustration as the 7s team did not show up at a Pacific function in Rio which was organized by the Oceania National Olympic Committee (ONOC) and Sportsworld.

WONG: “I’m really disappointed…Even the World Rugby people were here.”

She was assured that the 7s boys would be present but on arrival, she saw the Fijian and other athletes.

She was told that the 7s players were resting at the Games village.

WONG: “They can go to CNN and BBC and not front up to our local and Pacific media, what a shame.”

The 17 countries members of Oceania including Australia and New Zealand were present at the Pacific House in Urca Beach for the gathering.

All 17 congratulated Fiji for the gold medal victory in the men’s 7s final against Great Britain.

However, many were disappointed that they could not meet the Fijian heroes.

The Fiji contingent departs Rio on Friday and arrives into Nadi on Sunday.
