The cheque donation was received by Prime Minister and Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) President, Voreqe Bainimarama, from R.C. Manubhai Group Director, Ashok Patel.

The Prime Minister thanked R.C. Manubhai on behalf of the Fijian Government and the FRU for coming forward to assist the men’s and women’s rugby teams.

BAINIMARAMA: “We are very grateful that another local business has stepped up to support our rugby players through the Road to Gold campaign. Fiji has an excellent opportunity ahead to seize gold at the Rio Olympics, but that is only possible with support from businesses and individuals. I encourage anyone who is able to donate and give our players a big boost on their road to Rio.”

Mr. Patel said the donation was part of the R.C. Manubhai Group’s corporate social responsibility and to show support for the national rugby sevens teams.
