The National Football team will be campaigning with a positive mindset when they take on the champion teams in Rio next month.

The side departed our shores together with our national 7s rugby team at the International Airport in Nadi yesterday.

Coach Frank Farina said preparations has been well under way for the team.

FARINA: “Everyone is very excited and in terms of preparation everything is going well.We have been continuing as normal as everyone says we are going to get out there and do our best.”

He said all players had worked hard and given their best regarding training.

FARINA: “We have worked through it and then we will give our best. Our expectations are that we will do our best and be as competitive as possible.”

Farina said the category of this teams are enormous, and the players have never played against world-class players like this or teams like this.

FARINA: “We are not talking about rugby 7s here where they are the World Champions we are playing against the world championship. Germany, Mexico who won the gold medal in London and New South Wales who won the gold medal in London.”

The side will play their first game against Korea on August 4 in Salvador, Brazil.
