A total of eighty-nine athletes and officials in nine different disciplines have been announced to represent Fiji at the 2016 Olympic games in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro.

The list of names was approved by the FASANOC Board of Management at its meeting held at Fiji Olympic House yesterday the 5th of July 2016.

Team Fiji Chef de Mission Cathy Wong today announced the names of the athletes and team officials.

The final team list had been through FASANOC rigorous selection justification process. 

Ms Wong acknowledged all sponsors for their initiative offered to Team Fiji.

WONG: “It costs millions of dollars to prepare and send national teams to a sporting event with this magnitude, especially with this year being one of our biggest teams ever.”

So far Archery, Judo, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis and Boxing have confirmed their athletes while the travelling athletes for Rugby 7s and Soccer will be confirmed on the 15th of July.

Team Fiji acknowledged Fijian Holdings Limited’s initiative offered to Team Fiji athletes that will be participating at the Rio Olympic games in August.

The Rio Olympics will be held from the 6th to the 22nd of August.
