While receiving three containers of sporting equipment from the Australian based non – governmental organization, the head of state said that Fiji and all Fijians were grateful to have friends such as Peter Cole the founder of Spirit of Sharing (SOS) Australia.

KONROTE: “The world needs more people like you Mr Cole Sir, and Fiji certainly needs more friends like your good self.I stand here on behalf of all Fijians to thank you whole heatedly for your continued assistance towards Fiji and all Fijians in providing us the much needed sporting equipment.”

KONROTE: “Such assistance will go a long way in helping develop talents from grassroots level where these equipment would be distributed and will unearth more superstars of sports for the world and to all my fellow Fijians, the world is your oyster.”

KONROTE: “The assistance also comes at a time when Fijians are rebuilding their lives with whatever they have left with assistance from Government and our international partners and this equipment will surely put a smile to their already smiling faces.”

SOS chairman Peter Cole said the organisation was working together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in trying to put together a stronger partnership to identify and help the less fortunate children in Fiji to fulfil their dreams.

COLE: “I first arrived here when I was 18 and fell in love with Fiji and her beautiful people and when I returned I wanted to help Fijians and then the idea came to assist them in sports equipment, which I believe is the most important thing for young Fijians.
