Wilson will lead the Fiji Pearl’s campaign to the Mini Pacific Games in 2017, the Commonwealth Games in 2018, the 2019 Pacific Games and the World Netball Cup.

She will also be responsible for guiding the national U21 team to the Oceania Qualifying rounds for the 2017 World Youth Cup to be held in Auckland in September, this year.

Netball Fiji president Wainikiti Bogidrau said the association is fortunate to have secured a coach with Wilson’s credentials and calibre.

BOGIDRAU: “Vicki is a successful, highly qualified and a professional netball coach, who understands the challenges we face as the biggest woman sport in Fiji and the need to develop a better system to ensure consistency and better performing athletes and teams.”

In response, the newly appointed coach said she is honoured and privileged to be the coach of the Fiji Pearls.

WILSON: “I am looking forward to working with Netball Fiji to enhance the athletes, coaches and other development pathways to ensure that these programs support the sustainability of the sport in all levels. One of my key roles would be to ensure that local coaches are mentored for succession planning.”

Wilson’s employment has been facilitated by the Fiji National Sports Commission under the Government’s international coaches’ grant that was introduced in 2014.

Wilson will officiate at the Fiji U21 trials that will be held on Friday evening and Saturday morning at the Vodafone Arena.

A 15-member team will be named to represent Fiji in Auckland in September.
