Jurgensen’s now back with Fiji’s under 19 squad in Queensland where they’re preparing for the World Cup in Bangladesh. He said in terms of what money he has available he plans to have a development tour against the New Zealand Maori and have a third team involved which may be held in Australia or Fiji.

We’re still working on that in the coming months, so it’s a quiet year but also there’s an opportunity to do some cool stuff, we may even look to bring players if I’m based in Brisbane or get some guys here to get some experience training with the Queensland Bulls and maybe play some club cricket. It’s sort of a year of trying to promote the young guys, the under 19’s and the senior squad allot more cricket.

The Fiji Cricket coach told Radio Australia the problems he had faced with Fiji prior to his resignation late last year.

I think any organisation that’s gonna be successful in sporting or business, you’ve gotta get things right off the field and at times I don’t think we had. It was really hard for me, I felt at times there’s a lot more leaning on me to do allot more than actually coaching. So it sort of gets to the point where you go well, I need to be able to do my number one priority and that’s actually coach the team, prepare the team and make plans accordingly around playing cricket.

Fiji will be playing it’s opening match against England on January 27th.
