The Ministry of Health has recorded a Zika virus case in the Western Division.

Health Ministry spokesman, Mr. Sunil Chandra told Newswire that the victim had been treated.

There was one virus but it has been treated and we still working on it, investigating where it originated from. It was a child and I think he has gone back to his country.

Mr. Chandra said the country of origin for the child has not been revealed yet, he said the lab test confirmation for Zika virus has confirmed one out of ninety-three tests.

Ninety-three tests have been sent for testing we are still waiting for the results, but we have only one confirmed case which we are still working, investigating how it came into the country.

This is under investigations and we want to give the right report and we have to gather some more information that’s why it is being delayed.

The Health ministry continues to advise people to take preventive measures like destroying all breeding places for mosquitoes.
