Situation: (07:30pm)

A high-pressure system to the far south of Fiji directs fresh southeast wind flow over the group.

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:

Cloudy periods with brief showers about the interior and Eastern parts of the larger islands. Fine apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers elsewhere. Moderate to southeast winds, fresh at times. Moderate to rough seas.

A strong wind warning remains in force for the land areas of Lau group and Lomaiviti group, Beqa, Vatulele and the nearby smaller islands and Kadavu.

Yesterday, Fiji Meteorological Service Director Ravind Kumar said the frontal is slowly moving away.

KUMAR: ” The heavy rainfall that is on top of Fiji is caused by a frontal and not a tropical depression. The frontal is gradually moving away. There is no flood warning for the low-lying areas.”

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:

For land areas of Lau group, Lomaiviti group, Beqa, Vatulele and the nearby smaller islands and Kadavu:

Strong east to southeast winds with average speeds of 45km/hr with gusts upto 65km/hr. Winds expected to ease from tonight. Some showers. Rough to very rough seas.

For the rest of Fiji:

Some showers especially in the afternoon or evening. Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds. Rough seas.
