The National Disaster Management Office has advised that Rakiraki Town is currently closed due to flooding. The Naqoro Flats and FSC Roads are now underwater.

NDMO: “At 4 pm today, the water level at Rakiraki station was 0.78 meters above warning level and increasing. Given this increasing water level and the high tide at 9:52 PM later tonight, it is of extreme importance that those living in these affected areas evacuate to safer ground or an evacuation centre immediately while it is still daylight.”

Residents in the Rakiraki Town area are advised that Penang Sangam High School is open as the nearest evacuation center.  Police are monitoring the movement of people in and around Rakiraki town and are on standby to assist with evacuation.
