The general public has been advised that the restriction of movement order that was in place from 6pm yesterday has been lifted.

The public is now free to move around and resume their normal duties. The restriction was in place as a safety measure in response to Tropical Cyclone Zena. Schools will, however, remain closed until further notice.

The heavy rain warning previously in force for the whole of fiji group has been cancelled by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi early this morning.

Situation:

Category 2 Tropical cyclone Zena was analysed near 19.9S or about 140 km southwest of Kadavu at 3am today.

TC Zena is moving east-southeast at about 47km/hr from Fiji.

Rain bands associated with TC Zena is expected to affect parts of Fiji till later this afternoon.

Forecast for the Fiji Group:

Occassional rain and squally thunderstorms over southern Lau group. Elsewhere, fine weather is expected apart from brief showers and isolated thunderstorms.
