A damaging heavy swell warning remains in force for the low-lying coastal areas of the Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Southwest Viti Levu, Coral Coast and Pacific Harbour, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group.

Fiji Meteorological Service Director Ravind Kumar said the heavy swell warning can be damaging during high tide.

KUMAR: “The warning has been in force since Saturday. This is a heavy swell warning that has been generated by a strong high-pressure system that is located South-West over Fiji.  It is anticipated to cause heavy swell and it can be damaging when it arise to the coastal areas. It can be really damaging when it arise with high tide and we expect it to gradually come down by Wednesday. “

Situation:
An intense high-pressure system to the far south-west of Fiji continue to direct damaging heavy southerly swells over the group.
The damaging heavy swells are expected till midday Tuesday.

Forecast:
For Low-lying coastal areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Southwest Viti Levu, Coral Coast and Pacific Harbour, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group expect sea flooding of low-lying coastal areas, especially during high tides.

Low Tide: 0.50m – 01.20pm High Tide: 1.80m – 07.30pm

Tuesday 24th:
Low Tide: 0.75m – 01.20am High Tide: 1.95m – 07.30am
0.50m – 01.55pm 1.75m – 08.10pm

Wednesday 25th:
Low Tide: 0.75m – 02.00am High Tide: 1.95m – 08.10am
0.50m – 02.40pm 1.75m – 09.00pm
