A heavy rain warning is in force for the western half of Vanua Levu, Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

Isolated heavy rain with thunderstorms will continue today. The heavier rain is expected to clear tonight or early tomorrow morning.

This has been issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre (NWFC) in Nadi this morning.

Situation:

An active trough of low pressure currently over Fiji is moving Eastwards.

Rain expected to gradually ease from the West this morning. This is expected to bring continuous heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The Weather Office said high tide and heavy rain will cause flash flooding in low-lying areas.

People are advised to take necessary precautions.

The next weather bulletin on the heavy rain warning will be issued at 11:30am today.
