A flood alert is now in force for all small streams and creeks in low-lying areas adjacent to major rivers in Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

This has been issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre (NWFC) in Nadi a short while ago.

Situation:

An active through of low pressure is currently over Fiji and is moving Eastwards. Associated cloud and rain affects the group.

There is a significant amount of rain in Viti Levu and Vanua Levu and people are advised that small streams and creeks may rise rapidly and flooding of low lying areas are possible.

The next high tide is at 5.51pm and will be at 2.05 meters high.

Authorities are requesting residents in low-lying areas to take necessary precaution.

The next special weather bulletin will be issued at 4pm today.
