The government yesterday received four outboard engines from Former Cabinet Minister and Fiji’s Ambassador to China, Sir James Ah Koy, on behalf of Kelton Investments Limited.

Mr Ah Koy said the donation would assist Government in meeting the immediate logistic and transport needs during the recovery and rehabilitation phase after the devastation caused by TC Winston. The donation is also the first of its kind amongst the multi-million dollars’ worth of cash and in-kind donations towards disaster relief efforts.

Director Disaster Management, Mr. Akapusi Tuifagalele, who received the donation on behalf of Government, said that the contribution comes at a critical time for disaster response to the maritime islands.

He said the Government is continuously thankful to the partnerships of individuals and private entities such as Sir Ah Koy and Kelton Investments during these tough times.

The Hidea outboard engines donated include; 1 x 60 horsepower, 1 x 40 horsepower, 1 x 35 horsepower, and 1 x 25 horsepower.

Meanwhile, the Korean Association of Fiji also presented its donation yesterday, a cheque of $4,700.00 which will be directed towards the Prime Ministers Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.
