The Independent State of Samoa donated $100, 000 to assist the Fiji government with relief and recovery efforts in the wake of severe TC Winston.

Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola received the financial assistance from Mrs Aida Savea, Samoan Student Counsellor from the University of the South Pacific, who presented it on behalf of the Government of Samoa.

The donation would be directed to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation account to help those affected by the cyclone.

Minister Kubuabola asked Mrs. Savea to convey his sincere appreciation to the Samoan Government for their assistance and stated that such assistance would go a long way towards providing assistance to the people of Fiji.

The Minister said the assistance from international development partners especially their bilateral partners was overwhelming.

Minister Kubuabola also used the opportunity to convey his congratulations to H.E. Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi on his recent re-appoint as Prime Minister of Samoa.
