The Republic of the Marshall Islands has donated $62, 551.50 ($USD30, 000) to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.

Acting Ambassador for the Marshall Islands, Mr Albon Ishoda presented the cheque to Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kuabuabola today.

Minister Kubuabola thanked Mr Ishoda for the donation, indicative of the strong friendship between Fiji and the Marshallese government.

We take great comfort from the support we are receiving from our many friends in the region and around the world. We are glad to have such a friend in the Marshall Islands who have come to our assistance in a time of need.

Minister Kuabuabola updated Mr Ishoda on the recent efforts by the government to help Fijians in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Winston and the recent floods this week in the Western Division.

Our Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has been at the forefront of the drive to ensure essential infrastructure is repaired, to ensure full access to services by Fijians in affected areas.

Mr Ishoda said his government gave what little they had, with love. He praised the coordination efforts between the Government and different stakeholders.
