The Fiji Hackers Club in Auckland, New Zealand donated $14,439.22 to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.

Mr. Sachida Naidu of the Fiji Hackers Club presented the cheque to Fiji’s High Commissioner to New Zealand His Excellency Filimone Waqabaca on Saturday 9th April who later presented the cheque to the Minister for Employment Hon Semi Koroilavesau.

The Fiji Hackers Club comprises of a group of Fijians residing in Auckland. In the wake of TC Winston club members organised a golf event to raise funds to assist victims of the category 5 cyclone.

High Commissioner Waqabaca thanked Mr. Naidu and club members for the generous donation which was indicative of the strong ties these former Fiji residents have with Fiji.

Mr. Waqabaca updated the Fiji Hackers Club on the recent efforts by the government to help Fijians following Tropical Cyclone Winston and the recent floods in the Western Division.

Minister Koroilavesau was in New Zealand at the invitation of the New Zealand Government.
