Government receives more than $270k for PM’s relief fund

The government yesterday received more than $270,000 for the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund from individuals and the private sector.

Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama received a donation of $82,500 from the members of the Insurance Council including Life Insurance Corporation of India, The New India Assurance, Sun Insurance and BSP Life.

Insurance Council chairman, Mr. Malakai Naiyaga handed over the cheque to PM Bainimarama.

The China Railway No. 5 Engineering Group Fiji made a donation of $30,000 while Fulton Hogan Hiways Joint Venture (FHHJV) donated $150,000 to the PM’s Relief Fund.

A donation of $10,300 from the Fiji Amateur Basketball Federation was also received by the head of government.

Acknowledging the donations, PM Bainimarama said the assistance will go a long way towards the recovery efforts of TC Winston.
