The Government is looking for construction firms to build new houses for those who lost their homes during Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.

A Government notice asking for Expressions of Interest from construction firms was released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development and Natural Disaster Management today.

The government is looking to construct an unconfirmed number of homes measuring 7.2 metres x 4.8metres with attached bathrooms and wash area measuring 2.9m x 2.2m. The homes will be based on an existing Rural Housing Scheme 2 design.

Contractors may however suggest other designs similar to that which the government would like to build.

Interested businesses must provide their company profiles, relevant licensing and registration documents and their audited accounts for the last two years. They must also provide information about their capabilities and experience when they provide the cost of construction.

The scope of works will include general construction of new houses as per the approved designs with tentative bill of quantities for the affected locations from Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Following the current assessments, specific locations and the number of units in each location will be provided.

Selection will be based on the contractors appreciation of the project along with the usual business criteria.

EOIs must be sent in by the 4th March.
