Digicel mobile services in five villages in Koro Island are now restored. Digicel Fiji has made major headway in reinstating network connectivity in the Koro Island in the Lomaiviti Group.

Communications in the area went down for all fixed and mobile networks during the height of TC Winston.

Digicel network is up in Nasau, Delaisuai, Nacamaki, Tuatua and Namaco villages in Koro.

Digicel Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Darren McLean said that two communication towers are now fully restored.

Our technical team has been working very hard to establish communication in Koro which may be the worst affected area in Fiji.

Two of our towers are back in service 100% but one tower is damaged beyond repair and it may take several more weeks before that comes back on line.
We know that our customers have been out of touch with family and friends since the devastating TC Winston struck two weeks ago.

We now have Koro connected and we thank our customers for their patience and welcome them back on the network. We expect that the emergency efforts will be helped substantially with mobile communication restored.

The Digicel team led by Mr. McLean also handed out packs of rations to the villagers.
