The permanent secretary for the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr Yogesh Karan today received solar home kit packs from Clay Energy in Suva.

A total of 750 solar kit packs were handed-over by the Suva-based company to assist in the recovery efforts for homes affected by both Cyclone Winston and Zena.

Mr Karan said the solar kits will be given to the affected areas that were badly damaged during the two cyclones.

A number of homes need proper lights as most of them are without power and these solar kits will assist them greatly.

Sunergise Fiji Limited Director, Mr. Ajay Raniga said the solar packs worth $70,000 are towards the recovery efforts by Government.

Many homes in cyclone and flood affected areas are in need of proper lighting because power has not been restored in some areas. These solar lights are also cost-effective.

Clay Energy supplies a range of renewable energy equipment in partnership with Sunergise International serving Pacific and New Zealand markets.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yogesh Karan received a cash donation of $1000 from Mr. Peceli Latianacola.

In receiving the donation permanent secretary to the Prime Minister’s office, Yogesh Karan thanked  Mr. Latianacola for his kind donation  and said that he will convey this assistance to the Prime Minister.

This is very kind of you and I want to thank you on behalf of those affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Mr. Latianacola hopes that the donation will be used in the rehabilitation efforts to assist Fijians who have been affected by TC Winston and TC Zena.
