A 26-year old man from Narere is believed to be the country’s latest drowning victim.

A police statement said the victim was swimming with a group of boys in the Korolevu River, Wainunu in the Northern Division. The incident is believed to have occurred at around 4pm yesterday.

Police are waiting for results of a postmortem  to ascertain the cause of death.

The drowning toll currently stands at 5 compared to 1 for the same period last year.
