Government today received 480 cartons of mosquito breeding blockers from R.C Manubhai Company Limited to assist in the ongoing national ‘Clean up Fiji – Fight the Bite’ Campaign.

Mosquito breeding blocker is a liquid chemical to be mixed with water and sprayed or poured at breeding sites to stop the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure, and Transport Hon. Parveen Kumar Bala together with the Minister for Health and Medical Services Hon. Jone Usamate received the timely donation in Raiwaqa.

Minister Bala thanked the companies donation and emphasised on the fight the bite campaign.

BALA: ” I am honoured to be here this morning to receive this timely donation that would assist the government and the public in the recently launched fight the bite campaign.”

“And now with this donation of cartons of mosquito breeding blocker, we can ensure that the spread of dengue, zika and other diseases can be prevented. What this blocker does is that it stops the breeding of mosquitos.”

Minister Usamate said the mosquito breeding blocker will be used by people on the ground.

USAMATE: “The President has also participated in the campaign which was launched by the Prime Minister…very grateful for this assistance. This will be used by people on the ground. We are calling on other hardware companies to participate in the clean-up campaign.”

The donation is worth $10,000.
