The NFP leader denied the allegations and accused the AG of misleading Parliament.

“I have received the letter from the Chairman of the Electoral commission where he has put me on notice about a conversation I had in a meeting, with him and other political parties, where he suggests that I might have threatened the Electoral Commission.  I obviously don’t agree with that and will be responding to that letter.”

Dr Prasad said it was wrong for the AG to suggest that he had threatened the Electoral Commission.

The AG responded that he was merely stating what the electoral commission was saying, and read out the last paragraph of a letter from Chairman Suresh Chandra addressed to Dr Prasad.

“The Electoral Commission puts you on notice that it will not hesitate to take legal and penal actions should it find or feel Dr Prasad, or the NFP, resort to direct and indirect attempts and or intimidation of the Electoral Commission or its members.”

The Speaker allowed the debate to continue.
