The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) leader elections will be held later this month.

SODELPA’s Interim General Secretary, Adi Litia Qionibaravi said that four names have been confirmed for the leadership position to be held at the end of the month.

Former Prime Minister Major General Sitiveni Rabuka, former senior civil servant Anare Jale and two sitting parliamentarians Hon. Viliame Gavoka and Hon. Ratu Isoa Tikoca are vying for the SODELPA Leader’s post.

QIONIBARAVI: ” There are only four (4) names that have been nominated, and we are still carrying out our own assessments in compliance with the requirements of the electoral decree.”

The current party leader, Hon. Ro Teimumu Kepa had announced that she will not contest the postion.

Qionibaravi said that Hon. Ro Teimumu Kepa will still be participating actively in the party after the new SODELPA leader is elected in June.

She said that the newly elected leader will be leading the party’s preparation towards the 2018 general elections.

The party’s leader’s election will take place on the 25th of June 2016.
