The members of the Australian Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit included:

  • Committee Secretary of the House of Representatives Ms. Susan Cardell
  • MP Andrew Southcott
  • Senator Chris Ketter

The meeting covered the differences and similarities between the Fijian and Australian Public Accounts Committees.  In Australia, the committee chairperson is from Government, whereas in Fiji it is a position held by the Opposition.

Mr. Saiyed-Khaiyum also addressed the issue of running commentaries on the part of committee members, raising concerns on these commentaries risk jeopardising the impartial nature of the proceedings.
