Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum tabled a motion for Parliament to endorse the suspension of the National Federation Party parliamentarians from attending all proceedings.

Hon. Sayed-Khaiyum, Hon. Jone Usamate and Hon. Semi Koroilavesau spoke in support of the motion.  They reiterated the motion was to endorse the decision of the Speaker and to protect the dignity of the Speaker.

Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa, Hon. Semesa Karavaki, Hon. Mosese Bulitavu and Hon. Viliame Gavoka spoke on behalf of the Opposition.  They urged the Speaker to disregard the advice given by the Solicitor-General and seek independent legal advice.

The motion passed with 29 yes votes and 14 no votes.  Seven parliamentarians did not vote.
