Fiji’s National Security Strategy will soon be finalised with the final strategy consultative workshop being held at Novotel in Lami this week.

The draft will review Fiji’s National Security and Defence centre, but only after consultations with various stakeholders and Parliamentary endorsement.

Stakeholders at the workshop included representatives from civil society, faith-based organisations and members of the public.

The Minister of Defence and National Security, Hon. Timoci Natuva said the aim of the document was to bring about our safety, security, stability and prosperity

Fiji’s National Security Strategy, is the overarching policy document of our nation to which will be linked the Defence, Police, Immigration, and Intelligence White Papers. It is invaluable, that we are here, from across the country, to review, understand, strengthen and take ownership of Our Country’s draft National Security Strategy.

The strategy was first discussed last year with the aim of reviewing the country’s National Security Defence Sector.

Government Ministries, Departments, Statutory Organisations and civil societies helped discuss the draft.  Stakeholders would table the final draft before parliament for endorsement.
