The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), the Fiji Police Force and members of the Australian and New Zealand defence force congregated at the FMF Gymnasium yesterday for their annual Easter church service.

Present at the church service was Australian High Commissioner, Margaret Twomey, and Commander RFMF, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto.

RFMF Chief of Staff, Colonel Litea Seruiratu, said it was an honour to host members of the Australian and New Zealand defence forces to recognise the assistance provided in response to Tropical Cyclone Winston.

It is an honour and a privilege for the Australian Defence Force to be a part of this service, it’s only appropriate that we acknowledge your assistance.

She added that the service was the culminating event following a series of services throughout villages in observation of Easter week.

The service provided the opportunity for Fiji and Australian soldiers and sailors alike, to take a break from the post-cyclone work being done across Fiji’s islands to celebrate and remember the significance of Easter.

It’s important for us to observe Easter week, but equally important to share a short break with those who have been deployed across the Fiji islands.

Australia and New Zealand have been providing humanitarian aid assistance to Fiji following Tropical Cyclone Winston.
