Kean inspects new $4.27m Western prisons facilities

The  new Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner, Commander Francis Bulewa Kean has completed a tour of the organisations $4.27million dollar facilities being built in Natabua, Lautoka. 

The new Remand Centre and Women’s Corrections Centre each to cost $1.34m and $1.77m respectively will be ready for use in 2018.

A statement from the Fiji Corrections Service said Commander Kean and Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Jo Kulinidilo visited the two construction sites to inspect the progress of works.

The Remand Centre will be able to hold 100 persons and the Women’s Centre will have a capacity of 60 inmates. Work on the centre will be conducted in phases and will carry on well into next year.
