Jacks plans to resume operations in a few weeks
Authorities are yet to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed Jacks of Fiji’s garment factory in Baker Street in Nadi on Thursday.
National Fire Authority Divisional Fire Officer West, Mr Gopal Reddy confirmed that the fire started from a store room in the facility. Jack’s have estimated the cost of damages to run into millions.
Police had earlier said that six employees had received treatment after inhaling smoke and 144 employees were safely evacuated.
Jack’s have assured that all employees will be reassigned to other branches in Nadi and Lautoka today.
The manufacturer plans to resume their factory operations in a few weeks after finalising a new location.
In a statement, the NFA said that six fire trucks were engaged to put out the fire, four of which were from the station in Nadi and two from Lautoka.
