His Excellency the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote received a farewell courtesy call from the outgoing British High Commissioner to Fiji, His Excellency Roderick Drummond on Friday.

During their meeting at the State House, President Konrote acknowledged the Fiji-British bilateral relations and wished the British envoy success in his future work.

High Commissioner Drummond said Fiji and UK share a lot of history and his time spent in Fiji was memorable.

Mr Drummond joined the Diplomatic Service in 1985.

He was Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General at the British Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia before coming to Fiji.

The British High Commission in Suva is responsible for developing and maintaining relations between the UK and Fiji, the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Tonga and Tuvalu.
