His Excellency Shmuel Ben-Shmuel, the Israeli Ambassador to Australia and non-resident Ambassador to Fiji and Papua New Guinea today paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police Brigadier -General Sitiveni Qiliho.

HE Shmuel Ben-Shmuel was accorded a quarter guard ceremony before discussions with the Commissioner and his Director of International Affairs Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ulaiasi Ravula at the Fiji Police Headquarters in Laucala this afternoon.

The Commissioner of Police in welcoming Ben-Shmuel said as a nation, Fiji continues to enjoy the relationship and friendship with Israel since diplomatic relations was established.

Brigadier- General Qiliho said the Fiji Police Force was always looking at developing relations with other nations who will be able to assist his officers with their work.

SSP Ravula said discussions focused on existing and potential Police cooperation programs especially with regards to information sharing.

He said HE Shmuel Ben-Shmuel also offered the facilities of his office to look at ways to solidify relations.

Brigadier- General Qiliho expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support and looked forward to further developing relations especially with regards to the area of police cooperation.

Two officers recently attended the International Security Seminars hosted by the Galilee International Management Institute, and this was an outcome of the current bilateral relations between the Fijian and Israeli Governments.
