The French Ambassador’s residence in Suva was brightened up in blue, white and red lights in celebration of the National Day of the Republic of France (Bastille Day) last night.

French Ambassador to Fiji, His Excellency Michael Djokovic hosted President Jioji Konrote and other diplomats to a reception at his residence.

Quoting the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Ambassador Djokovic said that ‘ There is no Plan B because we do not have Planet B’.

DJOKOVIC: “Along side the Fijian people, we lived through the horrifying Cyclone Winston. We did our utmost to respond quickly and to show our sympathy and solidarity to the victims.”

With the motto ‘liberty, equality and fraternity’, Ambassador Djokovic said that France will continue to work along Fiji.

Chief of Protocol, Mr Atama Nawaciono said Fiji and the Republic of France has shared a strong diplomatic relationship since 1970.

NAWACIONO: “France has stood by Fiji over the years and has always a great partner. We value the long standing relationship and cooporation with the government and people of France and we look forward to strengthening that bond in the years to come.”

Ambassador Djokovic wished the Fiji Seven’s team all the best for the Rio Olympics next month.
