Fiji has established diplomatic relations with Chad after signing a protocol and joint communiqué between the two Governments in New York last week.

Fiji’s Department of Information said in a statement:

The communiqué conveys the agreement of both States for their diplomatic relations to be guided by mutual willingness to develop and strengthen friendship and cooperation in diplomatic, political, economic, cultural, scientific and humanitarian fields,

Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Peter Thomson, and his Chad counterpart, Cherif Mahamat Zene signed the agreement in New York, and also agreed to work closely on Climate Change issues.
