A 21-year-old man is currently admitted at the Lautoka Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after the vehicle he was travelling in veered off along the Kings Road between Lautoka and Ba on Friday night.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said the driver and the passenger were travelling towards Ba when the vehicle veered off the road and hit an electric post.

WEICAVU: “The driver was treated and sent home whilst his 21-year-old passenger is under observation at the ICU ward.”

“We again wish to warn drivers to drive carefully and to avoid speeding. It is quite sickening to see the amount of accidents recorded on our roads these days. Despite of numerous warning and advises from police and LTA, drivers continue to disregard simple road safety rules and continue to drive recklessly on our roads. The safety of all road users is our concern. We have to work together in keeping our road safe.”
