During the opening of the Labasa market extension yesterday the PM confirmed that an advance payment will be made by the Fiji Sugar Corporation by this Friday.

He said the advance payment will be deducted from the third and fourth quarter payment.

While speaking to Fiji Sun the Sugar Cane Growers Council CEO Sundresh Chetty said this will help the farmers to do some shopping.

I am very happy that our Sugar Ministry considered our request and finally farmers can do some shopping tomorrow

The payment would see the second advance to the cane farmers where the first was given before Diwali last year which was $2.80 per tonne.
