Miss Saffron Soul by Tappoo, Bindya Goundar was last night crowned as the 2016 Vodafone Miss Sigatoka Coral Coast.

Thousands of people turned up to witness the crowning as the Local Government Minister Hon. Parveen Bala conducted the crowning.

After being crowned, Miss Goundar said she hoped to make Sigatoka proud when she represents Sigatoka to the Miss Fiji Pageant.

GOUNDAR: “I am honored to receive the crown and it means so much to me. I didn’t expect to be chosen but I want to thank my sisters for standing by me. I hope to make the people of Sigatoka proud when I represent you all to the Miss Fiji Pageant. It’s going to be a lot of work and I’m positive with the right support I can deliver. Thank you all and also thank you Vodafone for sponsoring the carnival.”

Miss Coastline Transport, Merewalesi Raiwalui was chosen as the first runner-up while Miss Sudesh Transport, Shimal Sharma was crowned Miss Charity and second runner-up.

Thousands showed up in Sigatoka Town to be impressed at the wonderful and traditional designs of the Vodafone Sigatoka Coral Coast Carnival queen contestants at the second public judging.

Each of the nine queen contestants impressed the judges and the crowds as they paraded their traditional attire.

Chairman of the organising committee Mr Tulsy Ram was impressed with the evening program.

RAM: “All the contestants flaunted their attire so well and also answered each questions thoroughly. The Fijian night has been one of the favorites and there’s no telling which way the results will go.”

The judging sheets of last night’s event were tallied and put away under police supervision and will be revealed at tonight’s crowning.

The Vodafone Fiji 7’s players from Nadroga were part of the closing march today.
